KitchenAid Dishwasher Repair
KitchenAid dishwashers across Pinal and Maricopa County. Flat rate quoted before anyone opens it up.
What we see most on dishwashers
Gritty dishes are usually the filter or the spray arm, not the pump. Our water runs 16 to 28 grains here, which is very hard, so the little holes in the spray arms scale shut and the arm stops reaching the top rack. Standing water in the bottom is a drain problem, often the air gap (the little cap next to the faucet) or a kinked hose under the sink.
Symptoms worth calling about
- Dishes dirty, no error showing
- Standing water in the bottom
- Won't start at all
- Doesn't drain all the way
- Leaking underneath
- Door latch won't catch
What is different about a KitchenAid dishwasher
KitchenAid dishwashers are some of the best machines Whirlpool builds. They have stainless tubs, better insulation and they run really quiet. That quiet has a downside when something's wrong. A failing circulation pump (the pump that sprays the water) is much harder to hear than on a cheaper dishwasher. So the first sign is usually dirty dishes, not noise, and people blame the soap or how they loaded it. The filter and spray arms cost nothing to check and cause a lot of those complaints, so check them first. The drain pump and the door latch cover most of the rest. A bad latch explains plenty of "dead" dishwashers, because none of these will start unless they can tell the door is shut. The parts are Whirlpool parts, so they show up in days, not weeks.

KitchenAid dishwasher questions
My KitchenAid is quiet but not cleaning well. What's wrong?
The quiet is what makes it tricky. A failing circulation pump is much harder to hear in these than in a cheaper dishwasher, so you see dirty dishes before you hear any noise. Check the filter and spray arms first.
It won't start at all. Is that the control board?
Usually it's the door latch. These won't start unless they can tell the door is shut, so a bad latch looks just like the power is out.
Are KitchenAid dishwasher parts expensive?
No. They're Whirlpool parts, so they cost what everyday parts cost, even with the KitchenAid name on the front.
Is it worth repairing?
Usually, yes. It's a better-built machine with cheap parts, so a repair makes sense a lot longer than on a builder-grade dishwasher.
