Parts, and why the badge matters

Thermador is owned by BSH Home Appliances. That matters, because it decides where a part comes from and how long it takes to get. Knowing what we're walking into is usually the difference between one visit and three.

We quote a flat rate before starting, and nobody here works on commission. On a machine that cost five figures, that matters more than anywhere.

Thermador tips from our technicians

Specific to Thermador, not general appliance advice — several of these will save you a call outright.

  1. Note whether one column is affected or both

Each Thermador column runs on its own system. One warm while the other holds temperature means the problem is inside that unit, usually the fan, defrost circuit or seal. Both drifting together points to something they share, like a condenser packed with dust or hot air around them. Knowing which one saves a visit.

  2. Clean the condenser behind the grille

In this climate it clogs with dust a lot faster than the manual expects, and both columns slowly warming is very often just that. Vacuum it and give the unit a day before you book anyone.

  3. Clean the star burner ports

The star-shaped burner is what makes these cooktops stand out, and it's also what collects gunk. Clogged ports give an uneven flame that people mistake for a gas supply or regulator problem.

  4. Watch the wall oven door hinges

They carry a heavy door and wear out slowly. A door that doesn't close square lets heat out all the time, and you get uneven baking that looks like an electrical problem when it isn't.

  5. Parts are easier to get than the name suggests

Thermador is on the BSH platform with Bosch, so parts are a lot easier to get than for most luxury brands. If someone told you a Thermador part is weeks away, get a second opinion.

Repair it or replace it?

A Thermador doesn't add up like a budget machine. The usual rule: if it's past halfway through its life and the repair costs more than half the price of new, replace it. On equipment built to last twenty years, you hit that point a lot later. Our tech will tell you where yours stands, even when the right answer is not to spend the money with us.

Thermador repair questions

  • Do you repair Thermador in Pinal and Maricopa County?

Yes, in both counties. Thermador refrigerator columns and wall ovens are what we see most, and parts for both are easy to get.

  • Are Thermador parts hard to source?

Less than most luxury brands. Thermador is on the BSH platform with Bosch, so parts are a lot easier to get than the name would suggest.

  • One of my Thermador columns is warm and the other is fine. Is that serious?

Each column runs on its own system, so if only one fails, the problem is inside that unit, usually the fan, defrost circuit or door seal. If both drift together, look for something they share, like a condenser packed with dust.

  • Is Thermador equipment worth repairing?

Generally, yes. The problems that keep coming up are fans, defrost heaters, hinges and seals, not work on the sealed refrigerant system, and the equipment is built to last a long time.
